Shades of grey are very fashionable at the moment, whether it's confined to the bedroom walls or a single piece such as an armchair (if you have space in your bedroom) or ultimately, an upholstered bed. Large dark wooden beds with contrasting light, crisp linen balanced with understated additional bedroom furniture are a firm favourite of mine. Perhaps you are considering using a brighter, bolder or darker colour on the walls but you are concerned that this will make the bedroom too dark? A top tip is to use high gloss paint, which reflects a great deal of light, bringing your room back to life.
It's good to have a mixture of patterns and colors in your bedroom. However, there must be a balance of designs to create a holistic style. If you have too many patterns and colors in the room, it may feel confined and cluttered. The eyes will be strained from all the heavy accents. In this case, make sure you have a balance of pattern and neutral pieces. For example, if you have colorful curtains, bedding, bunk bed sets, and cushions, a neutral wall can create breathing space and balance out the color and patterns. These will accentuate the colors without becoming too overwhelming to the eyes. The breathing space will make small bedrooms warm and welcoming.
