Shades of grey are very fashionable at the moment, whether it's confined to the bedroom walls or a single piece such as an armchair (if you have space in your bedroom) or ultimately, an upholstered bed. Large dark wooden beds with contrasting light, crisp linen balanced with understated additional bedroom furniture are a firm favourite of mine. Perhaps you are considering using a brighter, bolder or darker colour on the walls but you are concerned that this will make the bedroom too dark? A top tip is to use high gloss paint, which reflects a great deal of light, bringing your room back to life.
The vast array of designs have been brought right up to date so you don't have to compromise between durability, or longevity, and style. French Style and painted bedroom furniture convey a sense of romance, which can easily be offset by pairing with darker or more contemporary pieces. I really would encourage you to create a scrapbook of your favourite pieces and bedroom styles, extracting different furniture designs from magazines and websites, and seeing how they go together as a whole. All my favourite rooms that I have designed have been comprised of bedroom furniture from different eras, genres and varying international influence.
